This is our word frequency list for Egyptian Arabic. The list is based on Arabic song lyrics, and hence will be mostly reflective of spoken Egyptian Arabic. It complements our dictionary of Egyptian Arabic. This does not take spelling into account, thus some words are undercounted.See below for sources, download options, and more information.
The frequency numbers represent how often each word appears relative to the total number of words in the texts. For example, if a word has a frequency of 5%, it means that word makes up 5 out of every 100 words in the text. A frequency of 0.5% means the word appears once every 200 words, while 0.1% means it appears once every 1000 words, etc.
The dataset was taken from the Habibi Full Corpus dataset.
This list may contain multiple forms or versions of the same word, so the frequency of the base word may be higher than it should be. The meanings and transliterations are automatically extracted from a dictionary and may not be 100% accurate. Further, the dataset is limited, not perfect, not fully representative of Egyptian Arabic, and may contain errors.
